  • In April, the Board of Directors crafted a letter to be delivered to Novato City Leaders expressing their concern with the status of the North Redwood Corridor. Please find a copy of the letter below:

    Dear Mayor and Council,

    The Board of Directors of the Novato Chamber of Commerce is concerned about the lack of progress made in development of the North Redwood Corridor (NRC).  While our Board does realize that the recession may have stalled projects in the retail and commercial sector, our opinion remains that progress in the NRC should be moving at a much quicker pace.

    In February of 2010 the Chamber held a Forum on the NRC and convened a panel of experts to discuss what the possibilities for these parcels.  The Chamber prepared a White Paper summarizing the results of the Forum in order to aid in the progress of the NRC in the General Plan update.

    Subsequent to the Chamber's Forum, Measure F was passed instituting a 1/2 cent sales tax increase to cover shortfalls in the City's budget.  The Chamber supported Measure F and in a letter to the City Council in July of 2010, the Chamber suggested several items the City should pursue "in the near future" to produce revenue - and therefore no need for a new tax measure when Measure F sunsets in 2016.  One of the recommendations in the letter to the Council (six years ago) was to...
